Eyebrows FAQs

WHAT IS OMBRE POWDER BROWS?
Ombre Powder Brows is a Permanent Make up styling technique which creates a soft shaded pencil look that gives the appearance of fuller brows, which resembles the look of soft eyebrow pencil. It has become extremely popular over the years as the technique is not invasive on the skin and therefore suitable for all skin types. Ombre Powder Brows involves creating a pixelated effect which can be made to look soft and natural or bold and defined which can last up to three years depending on the clients lifestyle and maintenance choices. It is NOT MICROBLADING
WHAT IS COMBINATION BROWS?
Combination Brows consists of machine hair like strokes and machine shading. It is characterized by feathered hair strokes from the beginning to the middle of the brows, then it transitions to a powdered finish towards the tail giving the client the best of both worlds.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OMBRE POWDER BROWS AND MICROBLADING?
I DONOT provide Microblading services.

A microblade is a bunch of tiny blades/needles stacked next to each other slicing the skin to manually draw hair strokes while depositing pigment under your skin.

Ombre Powder/Combination Brows uses a single needle (nano machine) that is powered by a machine that uses a shading technique to create a soft shaded look. This method is less abrasive to the skin, less painful and lasts longer than microblading.

Day 1 Absorb

    ● After the procedure, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb any excess lymph fluid. Do this repeatedly until the oozing has stopped. Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymphatic fluids.

Day 2 Wash

    ● Wash in the morning with the given solution to remove any excess build up of lymph fluid.

    ● To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants

Days 3 - 7 Moisturize

    ● On day 3 apply a tiny, rice grain amount of the ointment provided morning and night with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay the healing process.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

    ● Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away

    ● Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.

    ● No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks

    ● Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week

    ● Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure

    ● Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days

    ● Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days

    ● Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days

    ● Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area

    ● DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area

    ● Avoid making extreme facial expressions as this will cause the scabs to wrinkle, become loose and prematurely fall off

    ● DO NOT get the treated area wet. You may wash your face while avoiding your treated area.

    ● No cream or makeup on the treated area besides the provided ointment.

If you notice any bumps, rash, irritation outside of the procedure area, or think you may be having an allergic reaction, stop using the ointment immediately and gently cleanse the area.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE ?
2-3 hours for the initial appointment and 1-2 hours for the touch up session. The first hour of the first appointment consists of the consultation, measuring, shaping and pre-drawing.
CAN YOU DO MY EYEBROWS IF THEY WERE PREVIOUSLY DONE BY ANOTHER ARTIST?
I DO NOT offer touch up for other artist; however, if you had previous work done and would like to book with me, you are a new client and your work is considered as a cover-up/correction. Often times working over another artist work consists of more work than a client who has never had work done before. As a result extra fees applies. Additionally; they must be at least 50% faded. You MUST send me photos of your current brows before booking your appointment so I can determine whether I am able to work over them as not all previous work can be worked over, sometimes removal is required.

DO NOT book your appointment before getting approval from me to confirm that your previously tattooed brows can be worked on.
DOES IT HURT?
Everyone has a different level of pain tolerance, some feel it more than others. Your sensitivity level can vary based on a variety of things, such as medications, menstrual cycles, and pre-existing skin conditions; nevertheless, most clients describe it as a light scratch, with some people not feeling it at all. In all cases the result far outweighs the pain.

Topical anesthetic will be used after the outline is done and throughout the procedure, ensuring your maximum comfort. You may take a pain killer before your treatment as long as it does not contain aspirin.

If you are particularly nervous about the procedure consider purchasing Emla Topical Cream from the pharmacy or Dr Numb. Apply to the eyebrows generously, then use a thick layer of saran wrap and wrap the brows for one hour before your scheduled appointment. This will help ensure that you are numb prior to the procedure.
ARE TOUCH UPS INCLUDED?
No, they are a separate service, sold separately.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Colour matching can be difficult at times but we endeavor to match as close to your colour needs as possible. Many things can alter the end result of the pigment colour in the skin; colour and depth of pigment, oils in your skin, sun exposure, skin care you use at home, general health and medications used and neglecting to follow after care instructions. If you suffer from allergies you may opt to have a patch test before going ahead with the procedure.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The answer to this question will vary based on a number of factors. Permanent Cosmetic Makeup can last for many years. The actual length of time is variable and depends on factors such as UV / sun exposure, skin type, the density of pigment implanted into the skin and your long term maintenance choices. All enhancements will require a touch to maintain the shape and colour and to keep brows looking fresh and vibrant between 18 and 36 months.
DO I NEED TO DO A TOUCH UP?
A touch up is highly recommended as all permanent cosmetic procedures require two sessions.. You should expect to come back for at least one touch-up visit before it can be determined that your work is complete 6 to 8 weeks after your initial date of service, this visit is considered as the perfecting session.

Keep in mind that in some cases, some unevenness of color is to be expected. The purpose of the follow up appointment is to make small adjustments on the healed results. Annual touch ups are also recommended to maintain the color and shape of your permanent make up eyebrow. If you are not committed to long-term maintenance, you can choose not to return for a touch up and let the pigment fade away slowly as time goes by. However; if you wish to maintain your permanent makeup, it is highly recommended that you get colour boosts to freshen up your treatment every 18 to 36 months. This will keep your permanent makeup looking its best.
HOW DO I DETERMINE WHAT SHAPE TO GO WITH?
We take into consideration our client's face shape, structure, eye shape and personal preference. We measures and draw in the desired brows with a brow pencil and get our client's consent prior to proceeding with the cosmetic makeup procedure.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE BROW PROCEDURE AND DURING THE HEALING PROCESS?
The healing process may vary per individual. How quickly your skin heals will be slightly different for each person.

Day 1

    ● You may experience some tenderness for the first few hours this is normal and will subside. You may be also be red or swollen, if swelling has occurred it may take 24-72 hours to subside.

Days 2 - 3

    ● Your eyebrows will begin to oxidize, appearing darker, bolder, and possibly thicker. It is IMPORTANT to remember those are not the true results, and that your brows will lighten 20% to 30%.

Days 3 - 5

    ● Your eyebrows may feel a little tight and dry as your body is naturally absorbing and healing your brows by creating scabs. Some itching is normal. DO NOT PICK, PEEL, OR SCRATCH the treated area, if you do your color will heal unevenly and you risk scarring and infection.

Days 5 - 14

    ● Your brows will begin to exfoliate and should shed evenly if left alone. If you pick, pull or scratch the scabs you will prematurely remove the scabs and your brows will heal patchy and uneven The color underneath the exfoliating skin may appear extremely light but will resurface with more color as the weeks go by. Please be patient with the process and allow the color up to 6 weeks to develop.

Days 14 - 21

    ● Once the shedding has stopped the colour will start to appear vibrant as the days goes by as the skin begins to renew itself

Days 21-30

    ● The skin is nearly at the healed stage, the true appearance of the colour and the shape will all be settled

* If you feel you are having a reaction or infection, please reach out to your physician.
